Forces of Nature

The river is me and you are the sea
Born in white, leaving the high ground
First I rush then move slowly as if afraid
When I reach you, we intermingle,
And the waves conduct a symphony of light.

The river is I and you are the sky,
Flowing in our separate planes like earth and heaven
Your clouds quench me, your heat makes me thirsty
When it rains, I hear your voice, melting me
And the words sustain the harmony of life.

We are forces of nature,
And we always will be at the mercy of each other

The river is my skin and you are the wind;
You touch me but I can’t hold on
I sweat your absence, and shiver in your presence
As the day ends, your breath comforts me,
And the breeze presents the melody of night

We are forces of nature,
And we always will be at the mercy of each other
